Version 0.43 released

Hello Wargamers!

I'm releasing another interim update - version 0.43, while I continue to work on larger updates in the background. I was a little torn about whether to release what I had so far, or wait for something more complex. But I decided that it's been long enough since the last update, that I would release what we've playtested so far.

Introducing Jump Jets - an ability inherent to all Mech units that allows them to soar over battlefield obstacles and terrain. While not fully-fledged aerial units, Jump Jets allow Mechs to get to places other ground-based units could not reach. On their activation, a player may decide to either walk their Mech the normal move distance, or use Jump Jets to fly a shorter distance, depending on what the situation calls for.

Also, we continue to make progress on the lore. About two weeks ago I gave the first teaser of the larger story - Why are we fighting?. Since then I've been working on more and more of the background. Things may shift a little here and there, but the overall story will be same.

Excerpt on the lore to follow...

While we still do not know exactly what caused the Cataclysm, at this point it's abundantly clear that something we did caused it. While there are hundreds of scientists trying to figure out what caused the Cataclysm and how we prevent a second, there are even more trying to answer the question "what now?". Adamantine has gone from being a largely unknown material to something that we  can at least work with; with Mechs being the first direct application. The storms do still crop up from time to time, and we needed something mobile enough to get around, while being resilient enough to survive their ferocity. It's also clear that there is some relationship between the storms and the appearance of Adamantine reserves. Clearly, we have only begun to scratch the surface of this mystery...."
