Lore update

Hello War Gamers!

Our focus on the last few weeks has been on the lore and setting of the game. The hope is for an immersive ruleset that jives with the setting we're crafting.

The folks on the discord have already seen this update so if you want to see things as they drop, head over!

The Austro-Hungarians have been quiet for a few days now. The ever-present shelling gradually dropped off, before stopping abruptly.

Then, it resumed in full force a few hours later. We sat in bewilderment as we heard, more felt, the rumbles but no shells fell. Perhaps these were new guns hitting far behind our lines? Or perhaps, they were trying to lull us into a false security.

Lt. Calanzo, one of our forward observers is back, out of breath. He reports that the guns are firing, just not at us. In fact they're firing directly away from our lines.

Over the next few hours, we wait with tense anticipation. What are they up to?!

Just before nightfall, the artillery ceases completely. The silence lasts only a few moments though before being replaced by a cacophony of small arms fire. It's as if the enemy is fighting to the last man, the volume of fire is so intense!

But still as statues, we remain in our trenches.

Perhaps they too have mutineed? Maybe the rebellion spread south from Russia?

No, just as we start to get deep into speculation, I hear a whistle. They're coming over the top! All of them, infantry, medics, even the support personnel.

We sight our guns and prepare to engage, waiting for the command. Hold, we are told. Hold on just a bit longer lads.

My eye begins to twitch again as they're getting close enough for me to see their faces. Why aren't we attacking!?

And then a stunned silence settles over our lines. These men advancing, they're terrified. They are running as if their lives depend on it, not as if they're actually trying to advanve under fire.

Something isn't right. Many of them don't carry weapons, and those that do are quickly dropping them. This isn't how you surrender! This is how you get a whole bunch of your men killed!

And that's when we realize in horror  that they aren't running towards us, they're running away from something.......
