"Are we there yet?" - an update

Hello War Gamers!

It's hard to believe but we released the first campaign a month ago! Please keep the feedback coming, I love hearing from you all.

If you're within driving distance of North Carolina, USA, our next in-person meetup is Sunday, September 28th at the Gathering Place in Chapel Hill, starting at noon. I would love to see you there!

In the meantime, here is what I've been working on over the last month.

  • New models - if you're a member of our Discord Community, then you already have seen the new models I'm making for BAD. Why am I doing this? It's really three reasons; first, while I've continually iterated on certain model designs, like the tanks and Brassbounders, other designs (SPG, MG Team, Mortar Team to name a few) are largely the same as when I first unveiled them. With your feedback, and access to some additional parts thanks to my local Bricks and Minifigs, I have been able to make models that I hope you'll agree look much-cooler. The second is focusing on cost; despite being cooler, they're also in almost all cases as expensive or cheaper than the models they are representing. The third and final reason is for balance reasons; I designed most of these models before we had a fleshed out Unit Creator, so I wanted to go back and standardize the designs themselves to avoid people gaming the system. Without further ado, here is a preview:

Instructions for these models are available on the Brassbound Universe Discord Server. They will eventually make it into the rulebook, but I want to hold until I've refined the Campaign a bit more before posting the next update to the rulebook.

  • Growing the community - In past I've used different social media platforms for different types of content; Reddit and Instagram for new models, Itch for rule updates and lore drops, and Discord as the firehose for all things Brassbound.  I've made the decision to also expand to Facebook too. If that's your thing, please consider joining the Brassbound Adamantine Dawn Fan Page. You can of course continue to follow me on Instagram or Reddit if that's your preference, as I will continue to be active on both.
  • Updates to the business - did you know that we also sell model kits? My preference is always that you build your own models, but for some people, it's less hassle just to order the kits directly. That takes a lot of time and coordination behind the scenes, and it's not something that is readily apparent. That's also part of the reason why I have been tweaking the model designs; trying to eliminate uncommon or expensive parts.

Our other two projects, Crucible of Heroes and Knights of the Air continue to make progress as well. Crucible of Heroes is continuing to be developed by a small group of our community members, while Knights of the Air is open to anyone on the Discord Server who asks for access. My focus has been on finishing BAD and delivering a high-quality product, but my focus will shift once that is done to bringing the same attention to detail and focus to our new projects.

Until next time, happy war gaming.
